#36daysoftype – Redefining the alphabet

If you’re one of those people that begins their morning scrolling through Instagram, you may have noticed the #36daysoftype hashtag take over your feed once again. So what on earth is this thing anyway? 36 Days of Type is a project started by Barcelona-based designers Nina Sans and Rafa Goicoechea, inviting illustrators, designers and graphic artists to reinterpret the alphabet, designing a letter or a number each day.

Illustrations that are more than just eye candy

When, as a child, you first learn to draw, what do you draw? And why do you draw it? We all usually start by drawing first what we see, as a means of documentation. As we progress in thought and skill, drawing and illustration become a tool of both expression as well as decoration. It’s a good time to be both making and consuming art right now, and illustration practices have evolved into styles that are more than just aesthetically pleasing.
